Andrew Lehto

Owner, Black Mountain Timber Frames, LLC & Timber Frame Designer/Builder.

After graduating from Unity College with an environmental studies degree I started working on an estate in Surry, Maine for a murder mystery writer. I helped out with the estate chores like stacking firewood in the shape of Japanese pagodas and rustic fence building and landscaping. I was handy and soon tasked to making found object sculptures that were installed around the estate. I found that I really enjoyed building things with my hands. in 1999 when a building company was hired by my employer/mentor to build an octagonal timber frame studio for his wife I couldn't resist the temptation. My timber frame fascination was born. Two years later in 2001 after a layoff, I started my own timber frame company. I love joinery layout and the process of cutting a frame. It still remains one of my most favorite things to do.  In my spare time I search for real estate all over Maine looking for the next great steal. I love developing and brainstorming concepts from the ground up which is why general contracting has been so engaging for me. Acadia National Park is my great escape for hiking and biking for when I need to hit the reset button and remember why we are all drawn to this beautiful Maine Coast.
